Chris at his wedding

Wedding bells for Chris

What better way to kick off our newsletter than with a very special announcement!

This month, the Flamingo team were invited to see Chris, our Head of Marketing and Operations, tie the knot with his partner Steph.

The team were incredibly fortunate to attend a fantastic ceremony, a superb panto-themed reception and live music from Bang on the Ear!

We know all of our clients, past and present, will be wishing Chris (who has been with us for over five years) all the very best as he starts a new and exciting chapter in his life.

Congratulations, Chris!

Small business awards winners 2026 - Best marketing agency warwickshire badge

We are finalists!

Flamingo Marketing Strategies have been shortlisted as a finalist for Best Digital Marketing Agency in Warwickshire at The UK Small Business Awards 2026!

As a finalist, Flamingo stands among the most accomplished small businesses in the UK, recognised for its performance, innovation, and continued commitment to excellence.

We are incredibly honoured and proud to be selected for yet another marketing award, one of many you will find us raving about in our newsletters and beyond. We won't find out if we have won until the awards ceremony in December, but we'll keep you all posted.

Whatever next?

You may have seen a recent trend on social media, combining two much-loved sweet treats… Magnums and croissants!

The youngest of our team, Eden, was keen to see what the team thought of this culinary delight.

Your AI slop isn’t welcome here…

LinkedIn recently launched a new button for every post on its platform. Click the little three  dots on a post, and you get the option to mark it as ‘AI slop.’ That’s a lot of power in your hands…

The harsh language reveals a perception many have formed about AI content, on LinkedIn and beyond. And it’s a new feature which has received plenty of positivity from those tired of seeing AI on their social media feeds.

However, there has been some pushback too, especially since authentically written posts can sometimes be mistaken for ‘AI slop.’

Will human content pay the price for this move? And will it simply result in AI-written content to become harder to spot?

Here is what LinkedIn have had to say about AI:

The problem isn’t AI itself. AI can be a helpful tool to refine ideas and communicate more clearly. But when I dig into what people are reacting to, the common theme is low-effort, generic posts and comments produced at high volume with little real perspective behind it. When too much of that shows up, it crowds out the thoughtful conversations and lived expertise people come to LinkedIn for.

LinkedIn has also been keen to stress that this button will not punish users, but simply help them tailor social media feeds.

Will this work as intended? And will other platforms now join in the war against ‘AI slop’?

We’d love to hear your views!

Preparing for Q4…

As August comes to an end, you may ask yourself how on earth we are approaching the last few months of the year already!

2026 has flown by but so has the August slump.

Staff are returning from annual leave, business objectives need picking up and targets need hitting before the end of the year. How much you get done in those early weeks of September will have a profound impact on your end of the year.

For Flamingo, it’s so far been a year of change and evolution, with Emma heading off on maternity leave and two new staff members joining the team.

There are plenty of exciting things on the horizon, and we’re helping our clients make the tail end of 2026 the best it can be!

What’s one more meeting in the calendar, anyway?

Many workplaces dread another meeting arriving in their calendar. But why does it have to be this way?

Our Head of Strategy and Clientele, Eddy, has started a new monthly meeting, turning a Friday afternoon into a snack-fuelled marketing brainstorming session!

It’s a chance for us to step back, review what we’re doing and highlight any marketing that has caught our eye that month.

There is immense value in finding time for your team to share ideas and explore what new and exciting things you can try. You’d be surprised what your staff come up with…
