Last weekend I was out at my partners Mum’s 60th birthday party.
After a couple gins and performing my best moves on the dancefloor I decided to head over to the profiterole stand where I got chatting to a couple of Lynne’s friends.
Within a few minutes I could see where it was going, as we started to talk about what we do for work and I discovered they were both business owners, and very curious to find out more about what I did.
Of course, the question came “have you got a business card?” and the embarrassment must have shown on my face when I realised, I had got a different purse and couldn’t hand one over.
So there I was trying to type his email address into my phone through my gin-eyes, whilst scoffing a profiterole and trying to still look semi-professional.
Generally, I’m pretty prepared. I have several business card holders in different work bags, on my desk, my purse, my laptop bag. However, I’d completely forgotten about the importance of being prepared in social situations too!
Luckily for me, the gentleman also didn’t have his card… so we laughed it off together. And of course, I sent over an email first thing Monday as promised.
However, despite this only being a small blog… it was a big learn!
So I wanted to share it with you.
